Reactor Operator Licenses Issued in July 2015
The WSU Nuclear Radiation Center offers a nuclear Reactor Operator educational program that culminates in the graduates of the program sitting for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission nuclear Reactor Operator licensing examination. The educational program is challenging, and students participate in the program in addition to their regular studies. On July 2, 2015, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued four nuclear Reactor Operator licenses to the most recent WSU graduates of the licensing program. They are: Hillary Bennett (Physics), Skylar King (Physics), Tyler LaVoie (Chemical Engineering), and Tyler Lorella (Chemistry). Additionally, the U.S. NRC issued a license upgrade to Senior Reactor Operator to WSU graduate Alexandra Bartkoski (Microbiology, 2014), who is now a permanent staff member at the WSU Nuclear Radiation Center. The licenses permit operation of the University’s research nuclear reactor. Another student, Brynden Riggan (Chemistry), a graduate of the 2013 – 2014 Reactor Operator class, was awarded a Reactor Operator license in June 2014. Please join us in recognizing these individuals’ outstanding accomplishments!
